Earth day cookies
Such a fun craft with little helpers on any day but definitely a must on earth day. Make your own sugar cookie dough or pick up a couple rolls of the pre*done time saving gold since the only ones eating these are the ones making them :) .
Separate into two bowls adding green food coloring to one and blue to the other. Take a couple pinches of each color, roll them around together and voila! Little baby Earths! Finish with a cute little heart sprinkle or conversation heart-and bake! You could do the same with playdough if you aren’t into cookies or fun at all. Here’s the recipe we used for this batch!
Save some at the begining and roll with chunky dusting sugar or turbinado if you have it. INGREDIENTS: 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking soda ½ teaspoon baking powder 1 cup butter, softened 1 ½ cups white sugar 1 egg 1 teaspoon vanilla extract chunky sugar/turbinado for dusting
DIRECTIONS: Preheat oven to 375° STIR together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. (Set aside) CREAM together the butter and sugar until smooth. BEAT in egg and vanilla. Then gradually blend in the dry ingredients. ROLL rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, then top with chunky sugar and place onto parchment lined cookie sheets. BAKE 8-10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden on the edges. Remove+let stand on cookie sheet for two minutes before transfering to a cooking rack.
